New wagons for old

Every Thursday and Sunday, all year round, we do work projects and maintenance at the Railway.

This is an old wagon, probably a tipper originally, which is being re-purposed as a departmental vehicle, to carry loads as and when required. This type of wagon is particularly useful as a platform to work on a large item, such as a boiler. The workpiece is raised for easy access, and can be readily moved to different areas of the site as work progresses.

Ex North West Water Rivers department. Fine Janes pump station near Formby. Allen skip converted as one of a pair to carry steel sheet piles. The other wagon in the pair sadly suffered corrosion and has been scraped with reusable components retained.
