Five locos in steam!

As well as our own Sybil and Montalban, we welcome no less than three visiting locos:

Diana from the Amerton Railway,

Jennie, also from Amerton, and

Peter Pan, from the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway.

The Galliard Folk Dancers

(Sunday 3rd only)

The Galliard Folk Dancers are a group of dancers from across Lancashire.

The perform, in costume, a wide variety of English folk dances, some from the present day and some hundreds of years old.

As well as at venues in Lancashire they perform at events across the UK and abroad. And now for the first time at West Lancs!

Classic Bus rides with the Merseyside Transport Trust

Fresh from their visit to the Railway on our Princesses and Pirates Day, our friends at the Merseyside Transport Trust will be offering rides on their classic buses.

The Trust was formed in 1989, and now looks after more than fifty buses at its site near Burscough. Their vehicles can be seen regularly at events across Lancashire and Merseyside.

Pauline Hazlewood

Pauline is back! The well-known author of the Saddletank series of children's books makes a welcome return to the Railway.

As well as a writer, Pauline is an accomplished artist, and runs regular painting workshops in addition to bringing her books (and model railway!) to a variety of events across the country.

The 1925 pianola is now

a century old!

When Warinus Strode's pianola visited us last year it was advertised as 99 years old.

We are very pleased to see that it has achieved its century and is still going strong!

John Sutton's Books and Models

John Sutton has been selling railway books and garden railway items for more than 45 years.

This is John's first visit to West Lancs as a trader, and we look forward to some tempting offers!

Drive-a-diesel or

ride-a-brakevan

The gala will feature our ever-popular opportunity to drive one of our small diesel locos.

Or just for a change, how about riding in the brakevan? Or both?

Large-scale modelling

Our 16mm scale model railway layout will be running, alongside a display of Meccano models, built by local enthusiasts.

And for ride-on excitement, Southport Model Engineering Club will be bringing their live-steam portable track.

Plenty to eat and drink!

The tea-room will be open for a variety of delicious food, and our Fireman's Shovel van will be selling hot burgers and bacon baps.

And as it's the Gala, we will run a bar selling real ale and quality wines.
