THE WEST LANCASHIRE
It is with regret that we have decided to suspend the opening of our 2020 season, to comply with HM Government guidance and to ensure that our visitors and volunteers are not put at any further risk.
If you have already booked for one of our events, we will be contacting you shortly to offer a refund, with the option of either using your ticket for one of our other events or its value as a donation to support the Railway during the period.
We know this is a difficult time for everybody, and that families and friends must come first. However, looking to the future, if you would like to help get the Railway running as soon as possible, you can buy a discounted Return to Steam Advance Family Ticket, for use on any one of our operating days after we reopen.
You can buy your ticket here.
Some more suggestions on how you can help us are here.
When the situation improves and Government guidance changes, we will update our latest position on social media and on our website.
We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you all soon, in more normal times.
In the meantime, why not subscribe to our newsletter?
Our railway is a short 2ft-gauge passenger line in the village of Hesketh Bank, between Southport and Preston.
It features locomotives, wagons and other equipment from long-gone industrial sites in Lancashire, other parts of the UK and overseas.
We run steam trains on Sundays and Bank Holidays from April to the end of October.
We also hold special event days, including Easter Egg Hunts, Galas, Teddy Bears’ Outings and Santa Specials.
Come and have a ride on our railway!
We will be delighted to see you, and you will be helping to preserve a valuable part of our industrial heritage.
The timetable of events and list of fares are here.
This great little railway has a lot of atmosphere and an unusual history
A massive thank you to yourself and all of the wonderful volunteers
who helped make today special for our children and staff

Come and join us!
There's always lots to do maintaining and improving our locomotives, rolling stock and operating facilities, not to mention crewing our trains and running the shop.
If you would like to get involved, we would be very pleased to see you.
