We take you through the process of lighting up, raising steam and driving a train. You can shunt coaches and wagons in the sidings, and run them on the main line.
You receive a certificate of achievement, and a year's membership of the Railway.
Driver experience days cost £250 for one person and £50 per extra person (max.4).
Friends and family are welcome to come for a ride with you at the controls, and maybe hold a party in our tearoom!

Have a Party!
If you have something to celebrate, where better to do it than at your favourite Railway!
We can arrange a birthday party, picnic or other special event, at a time to suit you.
We can steam an engine for you when we are not open to the public. You then have the Railway all to yourself, with as many rides as you like, before during and after your Party.
Or you can have your Party on a normal operating Sunday or Bank Holiday, riding on the scheduled trains.
Contact us here with your idea - we like to say yes!
Bring a group!
We welcome visits from school, colleges and interest groups, as part of our efforts to educate and inform the public about our railway heritage. We can arrange a structured programme tailored to the group, with knowledgeable, enthusiastic guides keen to pass on their passion for narrow-gauge railways.
Visits can include steam and diesel locomotives hauling passenger and freight trains, also tours of our workshop facilities. All visits are planned and risk-assessed to ensure a safe, enjoyable event.
And if your group would just like to come and ride on the Railway, without any special arrangements, that's fine. If you have any sports cars, motorbikes or similar to show us, that would be even better!
